2017 Overview

Dear Fellow Anglers, Crews and Guests

It is my great pleasure to first thank all our participants of the 35th Invitational Tournament and to extend a warm welcome to the Pelican Yacht Club's 36th Annual Invitational Billfish Tournament, our dates to be January 5-9 with Captain's meeting and Kickoff on Tuesday night wrapping up with the Banquet and Prize Giving on Saturday.

Our 2015 tournament saw our fleet catch and release 188 sailfish over three fishing days.  Our top boat Grand Slam scored 17 releases and the top angler Wallis Higginbotham released 12 sailfish.   We continue with our dead bait, trolling only with conventional tackle format.   Our event is a classic tournament in the truest sense awarding custom trophies and merchandise to our winners.

A very warm and sincere thanks to  Carey Chen who as our tournament artist this year provided unique artwork done especially for our 35th tournament and we were delighted to welcome him back again for our 36th event.   He has again provided an outstanding piece of artwork specifically for our tournament.   Thank you Carey!

It is our continued goal to make sure that you always have a great time with us here at the Pelican Yacht Club.  We want to make our tournament your favorite tournament!  I believe the atmosphere of our club and facilities, our dedicated staff, superb dining, and great fishing all contribute to the unique opportunity for old fashioned camaraderie amongst fishermen that we enjoy here so much and find so rare and special these days.  We know that our tournament will be the memorable experience that will make you want to come back and join us every year.

We look forward to you joining us for the first time or again next year

Regards
Peter Tyson
Tournament Chairman
